What is Happiness
If you ask this question from 10 random individuals around you. You will find 10 different answers. But common thing in all of these answers will be the fact everybody has related happiness to something which he/she don't have.
"Some one will say happiness is feeling of being able to acquire any thing when one need it. Which means this happiness is related to money or resources which that person who defined it to be happiness essentially lack."
"An other person would say happiness is related to feeling of being loved by some one. Again this person would essentially have experienced an unhealthy relationship."
Is this the right way to define happiness?
In my opinion happiness is some metaphysical process which should clearly be distinguished from satisfaction. Examples mentioned above depict more of satisfaction than happiness.
Happiness is something which has direct relation with spirit. Spiritual health of an individual is the only gauge of happiness. Healthier the spirit happier would be the individual.
I have seen many people during my life so far who despite lacking worldly materials even their health were happier. I am sure everybody would have observed the same. If you try to dig a little deep into such individuals you would find one thing common that these individuals are at highest degrees of morality. Spirits get vigor and strength by "giving". Tendency to "give" can not be achieved without being kind to others. That is why such individuals despite lacking worldly materials experience true happiness by being able to help others by "giving" money/comfort/security/smile/best wishes/food/clothing/education/health and so on. Where as individuals who relate happiness to acquiring worldly materials believes in "receiving" . Result is such cases is that they keep following unending struggle in order for them to be happy. because after achieving one thing they need another reason to be happy which means another struggle which follows another and so on.
